I'm actually quite surprised no one's mentioned Houdini yet. He was one of the greatest card magicians of all time.

While he was mainly known for his escapes, he set in motion many types of card tricks and stunts.

One trick in particular that I like is his version of the color change. I think it's slightly harder then some of the versions in use today, but the impact is very nice.

Yes, I'm surprised that not many people here seem to be aware of the fact that he was a very accomplished card magician. I suppose it's just that his escapes were more popular, and so people only paid attention to that part of him. I've not seen the Houdini color change. I've heard of it though. Do you know anywhere I can see it in action?

I had seen a few on Youtube and wanted to post a video of it to help explain what it was but I couldn't find one that was good. The ones I had seen aren't up anymore.

Huh, interesting. Perhaps I'll ask a local magician I know...

Yes i find it quite interesting that noone had brought up houdini yet, most people dont realize that he was one of the greatest card magicians that ever lived yet he wasnt mentioned till now, very odd. I guess the escapes he did were more popular coming to the end of his career and his card mastery faded in peoples minds.
