Alright, I thought I'd make a thread dedicated to books about magic that you particularly enjoyed and would recommend to other magicians. If you add any books, please include a short statement about the book, and a rating from 1-10 (note that each book matches differently with each person though).

I'll start with:

Card College Volumes 1-5 - Roberto Giobbi (Card Magic)
This series covers just about every essential sleight that you might use, as well as how to use them in tricks, and presentational tips. Highly Recommended. 8/10

Strong Magic - Darwin Ortiz (Magic Theory)
This book is among the best books I've ever read (including books not about magic).
It's all about theory and presentation, and will help improve your magic as soon as you finish the first page. Must Read. 9.5/10

The Royal Road To Card Magic - Jean Hugard and Fredrick Braue (Card Magic)
This is one of the books that I find most often suggested to other magicians. It covers most basic sleights and a few advanced ones too. 6.5/10

Close-Up Card Magic - Harry Lorayne (Card Magic)
This book is one of the books that got me into Card Magic. It's easy to follow, has practical material, and lots of useful theory if you look for it. Mostly single tricks, and a few sleights.
Does not cover the basic sleights.
8/10

Practical Mental Magic - Theodore Anneman (Mentalism)
A classic treatise on Mentalism. Covers Billets, Coins, Cards, Slates, Blindfolds, Dead or Alive Tests, Book Tests, Prediction Effects, Two Person Psychic Effects, and Spirit Manifestation Methods.
8/10

Modern Coin Magic - J.B. Bobo (Coin Magic)
A comprehensive text on Magic with Coins. Covers the basic sleight of hand methods, as well as the use of Gimmicked Coins and Coin Boxes. Note: Buy the hardcover edition if you can find it, as it contains four extra chapters. 8/10

The Expert At The Card Table - S.W. Erdnase (Card Magic)
A wonderful book which covers false shuffles, false cuts, the classic force, palms, passes, and other sleights. Comes in two other versions which are Annotated. One by Dai Vernon called Revelations, and another named the Annotated Erdnase by Darwin Ortiz. Don't bother picking this up until you've mastered all your basics though, as it's a bit confusing at times. 7/10

Ok, here's my list:

Modern Coin Magic - J.B. Bobo (Coin Magic)
Defiantly a classic book, and a must for any close-up magician. A great deal of tricks both impromptu and set up. Bobo does a phenomenal job of explaining sleights, conceals, and tricks with step by step instructions. He also goes into detail later in the book with gimmicked coins and coin boxes. Practical, easy to follow, and a must for the coin magician. 8.5/10

The Royal Road to Card Magic - Jean Hugard and Fredrick Braue (Card Magic)
Also highly suggested to new magicians, as it goes through every sleight the magician will need. Probably the most well-known book of card magic among magicians. Extremely valuable for beginners. 6.5/10

Expert Card Technique: Close-Up Table Magic - Jean Hugard and Fredrick Braue (Card Magic)
Buy The Royal Road to Card Magic before you buy this book, as the moves, sleights, and tricks are considerably more difficult than those in the authors' previous book. The tricks, although difficult, have a high impact. 7.5/10

Practical Mental Magic - Theodore Annemann (Mentalism)
I would highly recommend this to the Mentalist. Goes through Billets, Slates, Blindfolds, Dead or Alive Tests, Predictions, Book Tests, and even some coin and card Mentalism. Sometimes the explaining is a bit difficult to understand; but still some high value in this, regardless.. 8.5/10

13 Steps To Mentalism - Corinda (Mentalism)
A Mentalism Classic. Very well written, and goes through Gimmicks, Pencil Reading, Lip Reading, Sound Reading, Muscle Reading, Mental Systems, Predictions, Blindfolds, Billets, Book Tests, and some Card Mentalism. Has very valuable information on Presentation and Patter, as well as an Interview with Mentalist Maurice Fogel. 9/10

Complete Course In Magic - Mark Wilson (All Magic Styles)
This was the first magic book I ever bought. It goes through about every style of magic that there is, and has some decent tricks for all of them. Not the best tricks, but the spongeball routine that Mark Wilson includes is great. Good for beginners to buy. 5/10

Complete Course In Magic - Mark Wilson
this to me is a magic bible, it has great tricks from every type of magic you can imagine. everything from stage effects to coin rolls. Obviously not going to be as in depth as a specific magic book but a great book
9/10

Modern Coin Magic - J.B. Bobo
A wonderful resource for coin magic, my only issue with this book is the lack of illustrations and sometimes vague instructions can cause confusion for someone trying to get started into magic. Great book not a first one to get though.
8/10

Klutz book of magic
A great begginers book, this was my first magic book. Comes with a nice starting kit for doing magic including a metal ring a rope some silks and a piece of latex. All and all a good book, a great starting point and can prep for more advanced books.
9/10

Magic the complete course-Joshua Jay
Another incredible book, unlike most begginer books this one not only can teach begginers and advanced magicians alot of new effects. It also goes into some great advice on viewing magic and how to add meaning to your tricks. A great find (found it at walmart of all places)
9.5/10

Simple magic tricks-john allen
A fairly good book, good for a beggining magician to lead into a better book, has some classic effects and some less heard of tricks as well. Fairly good book, a good starter book but fairly basic
6/10

Expert at the card table-S.W Erdanase
So far a pretty good book, still working my way through it. The version i have points out a bit of his history and bewares readers that some of the ways the sleights are explained are misleading and in places the diagrams do not match the descriptions.
still all in all so far 7.5/10
