So guys, I know it's been forever and a half ago since the first one, but with new members and increased posting, I feel this is a good time to post one.

Once again, the rules:

1. No cursing, swearing, or insulting others during this "debate". Any posts like that will be deleted.

2. REMEMBER - Keep this civil! The last thing I want is for this to turn into a flat out argument. There IS a difference between and argument and a debate. A (short) definition of the two is that and argument is usually out of anger or something along that line to prove the other person wrong. A debate is to sit down and each talk about your points of view and there doesn't have to be a winner. For this, there will be no winner. It's just for fun.

This is optional. I just thought that this would be fun. Later (I don't know when) I'll release a second one. For now, this is how it works:

Choose a side. It doesn't matter which, just make it clear before each post. I might type: This is for "...", And then type my debate for that side. You can keep debating as long as you want, and you might even argue for both sides! Try to keep it even though.

To make sure that there are two sides, I'll choose my side later.

So, the debate topic:

Which is a better/more versatile trick, the Ambitious Card Routine or The Invisible Palm?

Well, in terms of versatility in technique, I would go with the ACR, as you can find a version for almost every occasion, or even make your own. In terms of impact and versatility of presentation, it depends largely on which version of each trick you perform. Though in my opinion (which is biased, as I am a magician), I find the Invisible Palm (or Open Travelers, whatever you want to call it) to have the potential to be a more powerful effect, as well as having tons of different "explanations" for it (you're squeezing the cards into your hand, you're affecting the audiences mind so that they perceive things differently, the cards are able to teleport themselves, etc..). The Ambitious Card Routine also has the potential for this, though it's at least more common to see a "good" version of Open Travelers than the ACR (at least from what I've seen).

I have to agree with you, Hakuzosu. I think the ACR is best for impromptu, and you can add your own personality to it. You can spice it up however you want, and add all sorts of crazy stuff to it. The invisible palm, on the other hand, has a set routine, but gets amazing reactions. This was a tough topic. There are impromptu versions of the invisible palm, and different ways you can do it.

Yeah, I think it's a bit difficult to compare them to each other, as they have such different effects on people.
In terms of impact of each trick, I would say I get better reactions from Open Travelers/ The Invisible Palm than I do from my ACR. That could just be because my ACR isn't the most effective Ambitious Card Routine you can get.
