What are the top 10 sleights that you most value (in order, 1 being the most valued)? It can be those you have not yet mastered, also. If you can't think of 10, you can do 5 instead. I'll start:

1. Overhand shuffle control
2. Palm
3. Break
4. False Cut
5. Double Lift
6. Glimpse
7. Pass
8. Crimp
9. Force
10. Glide

There's my 2 cents. Two Cents

4. Tabled False Cuts
5. Spread Cull
6. Diagonal Insertion Control
7. Pass
8. Crimp
9. Double Lift
10. False Count

Huh, I've never really considered the break or the jog a sleight. Just sort of something you need to use in order to use a sleight. Like the overhand shuffle for the overhand shuffle control.

I considered the break a sleight, but not the injog. When I said overhand shuffle control part of it was the injog/outjog.

Right, though the break is basically what you use for almost every sleight, it doesn't seem like one...

Hmm... yeah I guess so. It's technically a sleight, but it doesn't really seem like one.

For one, welcome to the forums Kolin, and another thing, personally I consider the pass as a generic move, not really types of passes... that's just my opinion.

Yes, welcome to the forums Y2Kolin. I think that your list was a little bit more precise than the rest of ours, which is good in it's own way. (Though I find only 10 specific sleights would be a bit to limited for my personal tastes, I did include one specific control) I also think that the Pass is quite generic, and each Pass has different uses in different situations. One might require that the deck be handled in a way that may need justification. Also, I thought it was interesting that neither false shuffles or the palm were on your list, as I'm not quite sure how you would handle controlling cards without the use of the pass, which is a bit disadvantageous since you can't have the deck shuffled then. I am aware that this is a list of sleights you find most useful in your personal style of tricks, though I use false shuffling techniques so much, that I'm wondering how you prefer to control cards.

Hello motmot, welcome to the CTI forums. Hopefully you'll learn a lot. There is another section for learning card tricks, which is entitled "Share an Effect". No one has posted any card trick tutorials yet, possibly because of lack of cameras. There is another section available only to elite members, called "Share Secrets" which seems to be based on techniques or trick ideas more than tutorials themselves. If you haven't already, I suggest you go to http://www.themagicteacher.com to learn magic tricks. Stick by here as well, as you might learn quite valuable information.

Welcome motmot, welcome to CTI as well. You can learn some very valuable information here, that you wont get anywhere else Smile. Once again, themagicteacher.com is a good starting point. Another note: This isn't so much concentrated on specific tricks (sure, that's part of it), but more of technique and presentation. Don't overlook these 2 things.
